Burundi Overflight Permit: Essential Regulations and Procedures

If you're an operator of a business jet or a commercial airline with plans to flyover Burundi airspace, obtaining a Burundi Overflight Permit from the Burundi Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is mandatory. As a flight dispatcher, it's important to have a good understanding of the requirements for obtaining this permit, including the fact that the issuing of an overflight permit confirms that there is no political or security objection to your airline, aircraft, or country of origin/destination and that there are no outstanding navigation fees due to the ATC authority.

  1. What are CAA's working hours, including whether they are open on weekends?
  2. Which aircraft documents must be submitted with the overflight request?
  3. Are there any fees charged by the CAA for processing the permit?
  4. What is the official validity period of the overflight permit, as determined by the CAA?
  5. How can the Burundi air navigation bill be obtained, either through IATA or a local agent?
It is advisable to consult with a professional aviation services company or your aviation advisor to assist you in obtaining the necessary permits and ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Burundi.
